Asena Kaftan

Asena Kaftan is a two-piece Turkish ceremonial set consisting of a mermaid-cut inner dress and a structured velvet jacket worn over it. The inner dress is made from rich burgundy velvet and follows the body closely through the torso and hips before opening into a floor-sweeping train. The jacket sits over the inner dress with puffed shoulders and sheer embellished sleeves — the sleeves are made from a lighter fabric than the jacket body, which creates a contrast between the solid velvet structure at the shoulders and the more open, detailed sleeve panels. Gold embroidery and hand-set crystals run across the jacket surface, concentrated around the high keyhole neckline and continuing down to the scalloped hem in a consistent thread-work pattern.

A wide jeweled belt is included and worn at the waist, sitting over both the inner dress and the jacket to pull the two pieces together at the figure. The hips carry a double-tiered peplum detail — two layers of fabric that flare outward from the hip line — which adds volume at the widest point of the silhouette and balances the narrowed waist above. The set is completed by a matching traditional headpiece and a gold lattice face veil, both included. All gold thread work and crystal placement are done by hand before the set leaves the studio.
